Mobile App Development in Nigeria: What to Look for Before You Build

1. Native or cross-platform, and why? The right answer depends on performance needs, device reach, budget and how much of the logic can be shared between platforms — not a default preference. 2. What does the app connect to? Authentication, payments, existing customer or transaction systems, and backend APIs usually matter more to the outcome than screen design. 3. Who owns the backend and the data? Clarify whether the backend is built and owned as part of the engagement or whether the app needs to integrate with systems you already run. 4. What happens after launch? App store review cycles, OS updates, crash monitoring and ongoing maintenance are part of the real cost of owning a mobile app, not a one-time build. 5. Has this team delivered at real scale? A portfolio of small demo apps is a different risk profile from a team that has shipped an app handling live user data for a large user base. 6. How is user data secured? Especially for apps handling personal, financial or health data, ask how authentication, storage and transmission are secured.

Cost depends on platform scope (iOS, Android or both), whether the backend already exists or needs to be built, the number of user roles and screens, integrations with payment or identity systems, and offline or field-use requirements. An app that is primarily a front end to an existing system is priced very differently from a new product built from a standing start with its own backend.
